To honor this new year instead of making resolutions we inevitably break, we will devote each round of sun salutes to a yama and niyama, exploring the first steps on the path of Patanjali’s eight limb journey. Each Yama and Niyama has an intention which we will direct to our inner evolution & manifestations for this coming year.

We will make affirmations to generate more loving kindness in our lives, to live our truth with confidence and give power to our dreams & aspirations through a surrender to the divine. These and more are the intentions we will focus on based on the practices of the yamas & niyamas.

We traditonally practice 108 sun salutations because it is a sacred number, there are 108 Upanishads (Hindu spiritual texts) we have 108 sacred points on the body (marma points) and 108 beads on a mala (Indian prayer beads). This practice increases the flow of prana in our bodies and ignites tapas (fire) which has the potential to transform our limiting beliefs, patterns & habits  into holy power.
